PUB2000: Custom Trapping Settings Are Ignored for Graphics (262245)

When you change the Custom Trapping settings for a graphic, such as a Tagged Image (TIFF) file or a JPEG file, to overprint a filled custom shape, Microsoft Publisher 2000 uses the default Knockout trap instead of an Overprint trap.
NOTE: The Overprint trap setting works correctly for Publisher 2000 objects, such as shapes and text frames.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, remove the objects from your publication that are configured to overprint a filled shape:
- On the File menu, click Print.
- Examine the printed publication and note which plates have a Knockout trap where the Overprint graphics are positioned.
- On the File menu, click Save.
- Drag each graphic that you noted in step 2 to the workspace area outside the page.
- Print the separation plates for each page in the publication for which this issue occurs.
For example, if the Cyan plate for the first page is printed with a Knockout trap, move the graphic off the page, and then print only the cyan plate for page 1.
Because the graphic is no longer on top of the cyan region, the Knockout trap does not print on the cyan plate, but the other traps still print.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
