XADM: Misspelling Forestprep or Domainprep During Exchange 2000 Setup May Cause Complete Installation (262205)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q262205 SUMMARY
When you run setup.exe /forestprep or setup.exe /domainprep for Exchange 2000, you must be sure not to misspell either of the option words.
MORE INFORMATION
If you misspell either forestprep or domainprep, which are not case sensitive, you may start a complete installation of Exchange 2000 Setup by mistake.
This happens because if either word is misspelled, the forward slash (/), and everything after the slash is ignored. This can be especially dangerous when you run forestprep on the domain controller or global catalog server and end up installing Exchange 2000 accidentally.
If the installation completes, you must run Remove All to uninstall Exchange 2000 from the server.
