XCLN: Unable to Modify Global Distribution Lists from Client (262199)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q262199 SYMPTOMS
There may be occasions when a client can and cannot edit the membership of a global distribution list. This behavior occurs if there are multiple global catalogs across different domains.
CAUSE
Global distribution lists are centralized around domain structures; therefore, if a client has connected to a global catalog that is outside of the global distribution list's home domain, the client cannot modify the distribution list's memberships or client permissions.
RESOLUTION
This behavior is by design.
