No Cartridge Type Detected with Canon BJC 80 on Infrared Port (261938)

When you print to a Canon BJC 80 printer that is configured to use an infrared port for communication, you may randomly receive the following error message:
Unable to determine cartridge type.
RESOLUTION
This issue is documented on the Canon Web site. Canon recommends that you disable the Cartridge Detection feature for the printer if it is configured to use an infrared port. To disable the feature:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
- Right-click the BJC 80 printer, and then click Properties.
- On the Settings tab, click the red circle next to Cartridge Detection to disable the feature.
- Click OK.
