Dell XPS B533R Computer Stops Responding Instead of Entering Standby Mode As Expected (261905)

When you attempt to place a Dell XPS B533R computer into standby mode, the computer may stop responding (hang).
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the computer, which is shipped in Advanced Configuration Power Interface (ACPI) mode, has been changed to Advanced Power Management (APM) mode. This behavior is known to occur in conjunction with an A01 BIOS dated 1-06-2000.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, place the computer in ACPI mode, its default configuration as shipped; this is the configuration that supports standby or suspend mode. Contact Dell for information on how to change the BIOS to ACPI mode.
