No APM Support for Dell Latitude Computers Running Windows Millennium Edition (261899)

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade some Dell Latitude computers to Windows Millennium Edition, the computers may continue to have Advanced Power Management (APM) enabled. Rather than use APM, the computers should be upgraded to Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI).

RESOLUTION

To prevent this issue, please contact Dell to obtain a new BIOS and tool to run before upgrading to Windows Millennium Edition. The new BIOS and tool enable ACPI and add driver support.

If you have already installed Windows Millennium Edition, it may be necessary to uninstall Windows Millennium Edition, perform the BIOS upgrade and run the tool, and then reinstall Windows Millennium Edition.
