Onboard Cirrus Logic 5446 Is Not Detected (261847)

SYMPTOMS

If you perform a clean installation of Microsoft Windows Millennium on a Compaq Deskpro 2000 or 4000 with an onboard Cirrus Logic 5446 Video Adapter, a Standard PCI Graphics Adapter driver is installed.

CAUSE

Windows Millennium does not supply an inbox driver for this particular Video Adapter.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, download and install the drivers from the Compaq Web site:

http://www.compaq.com

The onboard Cirrus Logic 5446 PCI card uses a different chip set and Plug and Play device ID. The following Device ID is for the Cirrus Logic 5446 Video Adapter using the CL-GD5436 Rev 0 Chipset. This Device ID is not supported in the Microsoft Mscirrus.inf.
