Shortcut Icon Is Not Updated on the Start Menu (261772)

SYMPTOMS

When you click Change Icon in the properties of a shortcut that is directly above the Start menu, the icon is not changed until you force the Start menu to be refreshed.

WORKAROUND

Right-click the shortcut, and then click Sort by Name to force a refresh of the Start menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
