Active Desktop Switches Wallpaper to Windows98.htm (261618)

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade from Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition to Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition and you turn on the Active Desktop, the computer screen's wallpaper displays the contents of the Windows98.htm file.

CAUSE

This behavior happens when you upgrade from Windows 98 Second Edition to Windows Millennium and the Windows98.htm file is not replaced with a Windows Me.htm file.

WORKAROUND

To make the contents of the Windows Me.htm file the background for your computer screen, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Settings.
  2. Click Control Panel, and then click Display.
  3. On the Background tab, scroll down the list to Windows Me.
  4. Click Windows Me.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click OK.
