Switching Between an MS-DOS Window and Full Screen May Cause Computer to Hang (261574)

SYMPTOMS

When you press ALT+ENTER to switch between an MS-DOS prompt window and a full-screen window, the computer may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This problem can occur if your computer uses an Intel 810 chip set or a TNT2-based video adapter.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem:
  1. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Close Program dialog box.
  2. Click MS-DOS Prompt.
  3. Click End Task.
  4. Restart the computer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
