Keyboard command does not work in command prompt (261417)

SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, the MS-DOS command keyb xx does not work, where xx is one of the following code page settings:
- keyb be (Belgium)
- keyb br (Brazil)
- keyb cf (Canada) (French/Canadian)
- keyb cz (Czech Republic)
- keyb dk (Denmark)
- keyb fr (France)
- keyb gr (Germany)
- keyb hu (Hungary)
- keyb it (Italy)
- keyb la (Latin America)
- keyb nl (Netherlands)
- keyb no (Norway)
- keyb po (Poland)
- keyb po (Portugal)
- keyb sf (Switzerland) (French)
- keyb sg (Switzerland) (German)
- keyb sl (Slovakia)
- keyb sp (Spain)
- keyb su (Finland)
- keyb sv (Sweden)
- keyb uk (United Kingdom)
- keyb us (United States)
CAUSE
The Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition command prompt does not support the keyb command.
RESOLUTION
To set the code page at a command prompt, change the settings on the International tab in the System Configuration utility.
To start the System Configuration utility, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then point to System Tools.
- Click System Information.
- On the Tools menu, click System Configuration Utility.
To use an alternate method to start the System Configuration utility, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type Msconfig.
- Click OK.
- In the Msconfig tool, on the International tab, set the Keyboard Layout to the correct language (for an example see the keyb parameters above).
- In the Keyboard Data File Name "C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\keyboard.sys", edit the line so that it is only "keyboard.sys".
- Close Msconfig and restart the computer.
