When you install an Epson Perfection 636 (SCSI) scanner and then try to scan something, you may receive the following error message:
Scanner not ready. Check that the scanner is turned on.
You may also receive the following error message:
Illegal function call.
CAUSE
The Epson version 3.0 TWAIN software is not compatible with Windows Millennium Edition (Me).
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, contact Epson America, Inc. and upgrade to version 3.40 or later of the TWAIN software.
