The Acer 620U scanner works with Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, and Windows 98 Second Edition. When you upgrade to Microsoft Windows Millennium and then use the Acer 620U scanner, the following error message appears
Scanner not found
and the scanner does not work.
CAUSE
Windows Millennium uses the industry standard TWAIN files, Working Group version 1.7, to enable imaging devices such as scanners and cameras to work with imaging programs. Acer MiraScan versions 3.3 and earlier device drivers are not compatible with the TWAIN version 1.7 standard, and do not work with Windows Millennium.
The following Acer USB scanner models are affected: - 310U/320U
- 620U/620UT
- 640U/640UT
RESOLUTION
You need to upgrade your scanner's drivers. To download the MiraScan v3.40 drivers from Acer's Web site, follow these steps: - Go to the Acer Web site at the following location:
- In the File Download box, click Save this program to disk, and then click OK.
- Choose a location to download the files to, and then click OK.
NOTE: This file is 6.33MB in size. If you have a slow Internet connection, it may take a long time to download. If your connection is slow and your need for this file is not critical, try to download it at an off-peak time. - Double-click the Mira341u.zip file. This is a self-extracting file that launches the WinZip self extractor. Click the Setup button and follow the prompts to install the drivers.
NOTE: Most users can accept the default settings and simply click Next.
If these steps do not work, contact Acer's Technical Support group for assistance.
