SYMPTOMS

On the View menu, in the System Information Utility, there is an option that reads, "Connect to Remote Computer." This selection can be used to view system information about a Microsoft Windows 2000 computer for which you have administrative privileges.

This option cannot be used to read system information on a computer using any of the following operating systems:
  • Microsoft Windows 95
  • Microsoft Windows 98
  • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
