Single Sign On Daemon for Solaris File Name Is Wrong in SFU 2.0 Help (261111)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 2.0

This article was previously published under Q261111

SYMPTOMS

The Windows Services for UNIX (SFU) version 2.0 Help file contains a documentation error. The "Install The Password Synchronization Daemon" topic in the Help file incorrectly lists the Ssod.s07 file as being the Single Sign On Daemon (SSOD) for Solaris. If you try to copy or transfer this file to a UNIX-based computer, you are unable to locate this file.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Ssod.s07 (note the number zero in the file extension) file should be listed as the Ssod.so7 (note the letter o in the file extension) file.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use the correct file name (Ssod.so7) when you place this file on the UNIX-based computer.

MORE INFORMATION

The following is a list of the SSODs that ship with Services for UNIX version 2.0:

UNIX VersionSSOD File
Compaq Tru64 UNIX version 5.0 or Laterssod.d40
Hewlett-Packard HP-UX version 10.20 or Laterssod.h10
Red Hat Linux version 5.2 or Laterssod.l52
Sun Microsystems Solaris version 2.6 or version 7 (Sparc platform only)ssod.so7

The "Install The Password Synchronization Daemon" topic in the Services for UNIX Help incorrectly states:

"If the computer is running Sun Microsystems Solaris version 2.6 or version 7, the source binary file name is ssod.s07."
