SYMPTOMS

If a partial attribute set is added to an existing global catalog before the replication of the global catalog, the new attributes may or may not be replicated to other global catalogs in the domain.

Many programs extend the Global Catalog/Directory Services schema. No single program is involved with this problem; the problem seems to be timing related. However, when it does occur, it can be difficult to identify the problem and to resolve it.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 1.
