StarLancer: Error Message When You Quit Game on a Windows 2000-Based Computer (260852)

When you quit Microsoft StarLancer on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based
computer, you may receive an error message.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:
- A video adapter based on the nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 chip set is
installed in the computer.
- You did not install the Windows 2000 Compatibility Update
before you installed StarLancer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, uninstall StarLancer, install the Windows 2000
Compatibility Update, and then reinstall StarLancer.
To uninstall StarLancer:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then
click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Microsoft Starlancer, and then
click Add/Remove.
- Click Uninstall, and then click OK.
- Click OK.
To install the Windows 2000 Compatibility Update:
- Log on to the computer as an Administrator.
- Click Start, and then click Windows Update.
- On the Microsoft Windows Update Web page, click the Product
Updates Web link.
- Under Recommended Updates, click to select the Windows
2000 Compatibility Updates check box.
- Click Download.
- Click Start Download.
- When you are prompted to accept the Supplemental End User
License Agreement, click Yes.
- When you are prompted to restart the computer,
click Yes.
To reinstall StarLancer:
- Log on to the computer as an Administrator.
- Insert the StarLancer CD-1 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
If StarLancer Setup does not start automatically:- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following line, and then
click OK
where cd-rom is the drive letter of the
CD-ROM drive.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to install
StarLancer.
If the issue continues to occur, contact your hardware manufacturer to
inquire about how to obtain and install the latest version of the video
driver for your video adapter.
