SYMPTOMS

When you access a file on a file transfer protocol (FTP) server you may experience the following behavior:
  • The page may not be displayed
  • The file name is changed in the address bar

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the file name contains an extended character.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, do not use extended characters in file names.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
