SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 2000, when you save a project in the Microsoft Project 98 format and then open that project in either Microsoft Project 98 or Microsoft Project 2000, you experience either of the following symptoms.

Symptom 1: Opening the Project in Microsoft Project 98

When you open the project, the project-level summary task is displayed unexpectedly and you cannot hide it.

NOTE: The project-level summary task is displayed even though the Project Summary Task check box is cleared. (On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the View tab.)

Symptom 2: Opening the Project in Microsoft Project 2000

No tasks are displayed.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you do the following:
  1. Apply the Estimated Duration AutoFilter.
  2. Save a project in the Microsoft Project 98 file format.
  3. Open the project in Microsoft Project 98 or Microsoft Project 2000.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, remove the AutoFilter. To do this, point to Filtered for on the Project menu, and then click AutoFilter.
