WebTV for Windows Displays a Black Screen with Audio on Every Channel (258933)

SYMPTOMS

When you view any channel in WebTV for Windows, you may see a black screen and hear audio.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using the Windows Millennium Edition (Me) driver for your STB PCI-TV Nvidia Riva 128 tuner card. The Windows Me driver for this tuner card does not provide Video Port Extensions (VPE).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the original manufacturer's video adapter drivers by following the manufacturer's instructions.
