PI2000: Add Pictures Button Is Not Available in Catalog Tool (258928)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to create a new folder in the Microsoft Picture It! 2000 Catalog, the Add pictures button is not available.

CAUSE

The Create a new folder in the Catalog online Help topic in Picture It! 2000 states that after you click Get Picture and then click Catalog Pictures, you can create a new folder in the Catalog by clicking Add pictures.

This statement is incorrect.

RESOLUTION

To create a new folder in the Picture It! 2000 Catalog:
  1. Click the Workbench tab, and then click Get Picture.
  2. Click Catalog Pictures.
  3. Click the folder that you want to catalog.
  4. Click Catalog.
The pictures in that folder and all of its subfolders are added to the Catalog.

You can also use the Picture It! 2000 Catalog to perform the following tasks:
  • View the Description of a Picture
  • Add a description to a Picture
  • Find a Picture in the Catalog
  • Remove a Folder from the Catalog
To view the description of a picture:
  1. Click the Workbench tab, and then click Get Picture.
  2. Click Open Pictures.
  3. Move your pointer over a picture.

To add a description to a picture:
  1. Click the View menu.
  2. If you see a check mark next to the Advanced Menus command, click the View menu again. If you do not see a check mark, click Advanced Menus.
  3. Click the File menu.
  4. Point to Cataloging, and then click Change Descriptions.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to add a description to a picture.
To find a picture in the catalog:
  1. Click the View menu.
  2. If you see a check mark next to the Advanced Menus command, click the View menu again. If you do not see a check mark, click Advanced Menus.
  3. Click the File menu.
  4. Point to Cataloging, and then click Find Pictures.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to add a description to a picture.
To remove a folder from the Catalog:

NOTE: To remove a folder from the Catalog, at least two folders must be in the Catalog. if only one folder is in the Catalog, you receive a message stating that there is nothing to remove.

You do not lose saved data when you remove a folder from the Catalog.
  1. Click the Workbench tab, and then click Get Picture.
  2. Click Catalog Pictures.
  3. Click Remove a folder from your catalog.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to remove a folder from the Catalog.
NOTE: The blue color of some folders indicates that the folders are cataloged. Yellow folders are not cataloged. If you catalog a folder, any subfolder that you add to that folder is also cataloged.
