SYMPTOMS

When you view a list of unread messages from a newsgroup, the unread message count may be incorrect.

CAUSE

The unread message count indicates the number of unread messages that you have downloaded and that you have not downloaded from a newsgroup. The unread message count is an approximate count and not an exact figure.
