Office 2000 SR1 Applied to Windows 2000 Results in Lost Search or Finds (258774)

If you install Microsoft Office 2000 in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, upgrade to Windows 2000, and then upgrade to Office 2000 SR-1, the following symptoms may occur:

Nothing happens when you click Start, point to Search, and then click Files or Folders.

Nothing happens when you click Start, point to Search, and then click On the Internet.

Nothing happens when you click Find (on this page) on the Edit menu in Internet Explorer.

Nothing happens when you attempt to open a Web page in a new window.

Web links in Microsoft Outlook messages, Microsoft Word documents, or Microsoft PowerPoint presentations do not start Internet Explorer.

You cannot view Outlook in Full-screen mode.

In Word or Excel, opening any hyperlink generates the following error message on return: "An unexpected error has occurred."
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 oleaut32.dll, and then click OK. This reregisters Oleaut32.dll.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Office 2000 SR-1.
