When you try to install or configure Clustering Services in Windows 2000 Advanced Server the following error message is displayed:
Cluster Service Configuration Wizard
Cluster service cannot be configured because LanManServer could not be started.
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
Error ID: 1060 (00000424).
CAUSE
This problem can occur if file and printer sharing is not installed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, add file and printer sharing:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Network and Dial-Up Connections.
- Click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties on the File menu.
- Click Install, click Service, and then click Add.
- Click File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, and then click OK.

Although the Cluster Service can be installed without File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, the service cannot be configured until the service is installed.
