This article was previously published under Q258674 SYMPTOMS
You can use Outlook 2000 to retrieve Internet free and busy data from a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site. However, when you use Outlook 2000 to publish Internet free and busy data to an FTP site, you may receive the following error message:
An error occurred publishing your Internet free/busy data. Could not connect to FTP site. The URL was: "ftp://IP_address/xxxxxxxx.vfb".
This error message is displayed if Microsoft Internet Explorer is configured to use a proxy server on the workstation.
If you publish to a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) site with the same proxy server setting, publishing works as expected.
CAUSE
This problem can occur because when you publish Internet free and busy data to an FTP site, Outlook 2000 attempts to write directly to the FTP site without using the specified proxy server.
