Change the Microsoft Windows Display Settings

On some computers, you can improve the frame rate in Baseball 2001 by changing the Windows display settings for the video adapter that is installed in your computer.

To change the Windows display settings for your video adapter to improve the frame rate in Baseball 2001:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. Click the tab that is named for the video adapter installed in your computer.

    If no such tab is present, click the Settings tab.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. Click the Adapter tab.
  6. Turn off the synchronize vertical refresh feature (sometimes called "Vsync in flip").

    If you do not see the synchronize vertical refresh feature, proceed to the next step.
  7. In the Refresh rate box, click Adapter default.

    If the issue continues to occur after you adjust the settings described in these steps, repeat this step, selecting a different refresh rate each time, until you experience an improved frame rate in the game.

    NOTE: If you do not see an Adapter tab, you cannot change the refresh rate for your video adapter.
  8. Turn off anti-aliasing.

    NOTE: If you do not see an option for turning off anti-aliasing, you cannot turn off anti-aliasing for your video adapter.
  9. Turn off alpha-blending.

    NOTE: If you do not see an option for turning off alpha-blending, you cannot turn off alpha-blending for your video adapter.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Under Screen area, move the slider to any setting other than 640 by 480 pixels.NOTE: If you do not see any controls for adjusting the Windows display settings, then this option is not available to you.

Change the Baseball 2001 Graphics and Sound Settings

To change the graphics and sound settings in Baseball 2001 to improve game performance:
  1. Start Baseball 2001.
  2. On the Home Plate screen, click Options.
  3. Click the Graphics tab.
  4. Click to set the Gouraud Shading option to Off.
  5. Click to set the Shadows option to Off.
  6. Under Player Detail, click a lower player detail setting than is currently selected.
  7. Under Available Resolutions, click to select a lower display resolution than is currently selected.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click the Sounds tab.
  10. Move the Commentator slider to Off.
  11. Move the Crowd & Stadium slider to Off.
  12. Move the Game Sounds slider to Off.
  13. Move the Music slider to Off.
  14. Move the Button Sounds slider to Off.
  15. Click OK.
