SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade to Windows Millennium Edition (Me) from Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, or Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition (SE), the screen resolution may be different from what it was set to before the upgrade.

Also, on a non-upgrade installation of Windows Me, the display adapter listed in Device Manager may be listed as a standard VGA display adapter, rather than the display adapter that is actually installed.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when the computer has a display adapter installed with an earlier device driver that is not compatible with Windows Me.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, please obtain and install the latest display adapter device driver from the manufacturer.
