SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade to Windows 2000 Server from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server, the Microsoft Mail Postoffice icon is not displayed in Control Panel and you cannot administer a workgroup postoffice or create a new workgroup postoffice.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because two files that are required for Microsoft Mail Postoffice are not included on the Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:
  1. Obtain the following files from the I386 folder on the Windows NT Server 4.0 CD-ROM:

    Wgpoadmn.dl_
    Wgpocpl.cp_

  2. Expand the files to the Winnt\System32 folder on your Windows 2000 installation.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
