SYMPTOMS
When you access a PC Card modem by clicking More Info on the Diagnostics tab in the Modems tool in Control Panel, the mouse pointer may stop responding (hang) for up to four seconds. During this period, you cannot perform any other tasks on the computer. After this period, full control of the mouse and computer returns.
WORKAROUNDWARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk.
To work around this problem, disable Advanced Power Management (APM) for the PC Card modem.
To disable APM for PC Card modems, change the data value of the EnablePowerManagement DWORD value from 01 00 00 00 to 00 00 00 00 in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VCOMM
