The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
This article was previously published under Q258120 SYMPTOMS
When you run the Network Diagnostics tool in the Microsoft System Information utility (Msinfo32.exe), your network configuration information can be saved in one or more log files that you can review at a later time. Although the information in these log files may be useful for troubleshooting purposes, you may be unable to delete these log files.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because PCHealth prevents core files from being
overwritten or deleted.
RESOLUTION
To delete saved Network Diagnostics log files:
- Start your computer by using a Windows Millennium Edition (Me) Startup disk.
- At the command prompt, type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each command:
c: cd \ cd windows\pchealth\helpctr\system\netdiag - Type dir /w, and then press ENTER to view a list of files in the Netdiag folder. Log files appear as:
Netdiag date and time.htm
- Note the names of the files you want to delete, and then delete them. To do so, type del file name, press ENTER, and then repeat this command to delete any other log files you do not want to keep.
- Restart your computer.
