Computer Does Not Restart During First Phase of RIS Installation (258093)

SYMPTOMS

While you are performing a Remote Installation service (RIS) installation of Windows 2000 Professional on a computer that has an Intel Pro 100+ Management adapter, the computer pauses at the end of the first phase of Setup and displays the following message:
Restarting computer
The computer does not restart, but the installation proceeds if you restart the computer manually.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the Intel Pro 100+ Management adapter has an older Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE) ROM.

RESOLUTION

Contact Intel for a updated (PXE) ROM for the Intel Pro 100+ Management adapter. There is an update for the Intel Pro 100+ Management adapter available at the following Intel Web site: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. MORE INFORMATION

This issue has been reported on some models of Compaq computers that use the Intel Pro 100+ Management adapter, but may occur on other computers that use the same network adapter.
