OL2000: Items Appear to Be Sorted Incorrectly When You Sort by the 'Icon' Field (258039)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q258039

SYMPTOMS

When you sort items (messages, appointments, and tasks) by the Icon field in a Microsoft Outlook folder, the items may not appear to be sorted in the proper order.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Icon field represents the message class, not the read or unread status, of an item. When a view is sorted by the Icon field, items are sorted by the message class of the item and then by the index value of the icon.
