Error message appears when you restart Windows after installation of Nero CD-Recording Software (257956)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Nero CD-Recording software on Windows, you may receive the following error when you restart the computer:
Stop: 0x0000001E
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
*** Address 8041F541 base at 80400000, DateStamp 384d9b17 - ntoskrnl.exe

CAUSE

The Windows NT drivers that are included in Nero CD-Recording Software (versions earlier than 4.0.8.3) are not properly updated and are not supported in Windows 2000 or later.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:

Method 1

Attempt to load "Last_Known_Good" configuration:
  1. When Windows is loading, press F8, click Last_Known_Good from the advanced boot menu options, and then press ENTER.
  2. If you click the "Last_Known_Good" option, and the system does not start properly, refer to the following knowledge base articles for additional troubleshooting steps:

Method 2

  • Upgrade to a compatible version of Nero (manufactured by Ahead Software) that includes the correct drivers for use with Windows 2000 and later versions of Windows. Contact the manufacturer for support, and for an updated version of the Nero CD-Recording software at the following Nero Web site:

  • If you have a version of Nero that is older than 4.0.8.3, you can download the latest Wnaspi32.dll file at the following FTP site: NOTE: Copy Wnaspi32.dll to the Nero program folder.
