SYMPTOMS

When you type something in the Containing text box in the Search Results dialog box, you may not find all the files that contain the text string you typed.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you use non-ANSI characters in the text you want to search.

NOTE: In Windows 2000, the Search feature only locates ANSI strings contained in files to locate a text value. Unicode strings are not located.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
