Cannot Use U.S. Robotics 56K Voice Faxmodem USB in Windows 2000 (257738)

SYMPTOMS

Windows 2000 may not be able to locate drivers for a U.S. Robotics 56K Voice Faxmodem USB that is connected to a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, even though drivers for this modem are included with Windows 2000. If you manually specify the Windows 2000 drivers for this modem, the modem may not function in Windows 2000 when it is connected to a USB port. When you attempt to dial, you may receive the following error message:
Error 721
The remote computer is not responding received when dialing PPP host

CAUSE

Earlier versions of the firmware for this modem are not compatible with Windows 2000.
