SYMPTOMS

When you log on to a trusted domain, you may receive the following error message:
The trust relationship between the primary domain and the trusted domain failed.

STATUS_TRUSTED_DOMAIN_FAILURE
This error message can occur if the LMCompatibilityLevel setting is set to 4 or 5 on your domain controllers.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
