SYMPTOMS

Remote Access Service (RAS) direct cable connections that use a serial port null modem cable always use 1 stop bit, regardless of the Modem settings in Control Panel.

  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe), and then view the following key in the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Rasman\Parameters

  2. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:

    Value Name: StopBits
    Data Type: REG_DWORD
    Value: Number of Stop Bits

  3. Quit Registry Editor.
