OL98: Procedure Entry Point Error When You Attempt to Send or Receive E-mail (257584)

SYMPTOMS

When you click Send/Receive in Outlook, you may receive the following error message:
The procedure entry point ??0CbyteStream@@QAE@XZ could not be loaded in the dynamic link library Msoert.dll.

CAUSE

You have removed Outlook Express.

RESOLUTION

Remove and then reinstall Outlook:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click Microsoft Outlook 98, and then click Add/Remove.
  4. Click Remove Outlook, and then restart your computer.
  5. Use your original installation source to reinstall Outlook.
NOTE: If you originally ran the Outlook 98 Setup from the World Wide Web download, you may need to contact Microsoft Product Support Services for help. This download is no longer available.
