SYMPTOMS

After you install Visio 2000 on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000, and you then start Visio 2000 for the first time, you may receive the following error message:
The procedure entry point GBL could not be located in the dynamic link library VISLIB32.DLL.

CAUSE

The Vislib32.dll file might have become corrupted. Various things can cause the corruption, including upgrading your computer from an operating system that uses the FAT32 file system, such as Microsoft Windows 98, to one that uses the NTFS file system, such as Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, replace the Vislib32.dll file on your computer with the one from the Visio 2000 CD.

To replace the Vislib32.dll file:
  1. Find the Vislib32.dll file on your hard disk.

Typically, you can find this file in the Program Files\Visio folder.
  2. Rename the Vislib32.dll file to Vislib32.old by right-clicking the file, and then clicking Rename.
  3. Copy the Vislib32.dll file from the Visio 2000 CD to the same location as Vislib32.old on your hard disk.
NOTE: After you start Visio 2000 successfully, you can delete the Vislib32.old file.
