- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

This article was previously published under Q257562 SYMPTOMS
The Hibernate and Standby features are not available when you use the Power Options tool in Control Panel or when you shut down the computer.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if the computer is using a VGA video driver. The VGA driver supplies basic video functionality only. The VGA driver does not supply power management functionality, because that functionality is specific to individual video cards.
RESOLUTION
To make the Hibernate and Standby options available, install the correct video driver.
