Content Analyzer May Delete Content (257511)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Site Server 3.0
This article was previously published under Q257511 SYMPTOMS
When Content Analyzer is set to do a URL crawl and it encounters an HREF attribute that points to a file share with Full Control access permission, Content Analyzer deletes the file that it crawls from the file share.
CAUSE
When a file contains an HREF attribute that points to a file URL (such as FILE://), Content Analyzer uses the target file that it is crawling as its temp file. Content Analyzer renames the target file as <Filename>.ext.tmp, parses it, and then deletes the target file.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, remove Full Control access permissions and replace with Read Only access permissions.
