Links LS 2000: Crowd Noise or Commentary Is Not Played (257445)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Links LS 2000
  • Microsoft Links LS Classic

This article was previously published under Q257445

SYMPTOMS

When you play a round of golf in Microsoft Links LS 2000 or Microsoft Links LS Classic, you can hear only the crowd noise or the commentary. You cannot hear both.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because only one sound script file can be played during a round. For example, you cannot hear both crowd noise and the celebrity commentary during the same round.

Sound in Links LS 2000 and Links LS Classic is stored in the following three sound script files:
  • Links.sdf - The classic commentary.
  • Ls2000.sdf - The celebrity commentary.
  • Tourny.sdf - The gallery (crowd) noise.

RESOLUTION

To choose which sound script is played during a round:
  1. On the Links LS startup screen, click OPTIONS.
  2. Click Sound Setup.
    1. To change the sound scheme used in a non-tournament game, click the sound script file that you want to use in the Non-Tournament Sound Script box.
    2. To change the sound script used in a tournament game, click the sound script file that you want to use in the Tournament Sound Script box.
  3. Click OK, and then click Close to return to the Links LS startup screen.

MORE INFORMATION

By default, Links LS 2000 and Links LS Classic are configured to play the celebrity commentary during a non-tournament game.

If you enable crowd noise in a non-tournament game, however, Links LS 2000 and Links LS Classic play the crowd noise instead of the celebrity commentary.
