If you click Send Page by E-mail when you are viewing a Microsoft Office document (such as a Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel document) in Internet Explorer, the e-mail message may contain random or unintelligible characters.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Internet Explorer incorrectly attaches a doc_type.html extension to the document.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:
- From the File menu, click Save As, and set Save as Type to Web Page (*.htm; *.html).
- Save the page locally.
- Right-click the file, click Send To, and then click Mail Recipient.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
When you select Send and Page By E-mail from the File menu, Internet Explorer sends the page as Test.doc_type.Html. By selecting Save As and then Save as Type from the File menu, you are able to save the file as Test.Html without the doc_type. This renders the e-mail message properly.
