SYMPTOMS

Attachments that have been encoded using BinHex encoding are not decoded properly when they are received by Outlook Express.

WORKAROUND

Request that the sender of the message configure the e-mail client to encode attachments using an encoding technique other than BinHex, and then resend the message.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
