This article describes how to troubleshoot problems with an Outlook 98 Defense Message System (DMS) 2.1 or Outlook 2000 DMS 2.2 or DMS 3.0 client. This article describes how to determine if the problem that you are having is related to DMS or Outlook.

To test if the problem that you are having is related to the Outlook 98 or Outlook 2000 client:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.
  3. Click Add-In Manager, and then click to clear the DMS Security Extensions check box.
After you click to clear the DMS Security Extensions check box, the Outlook client is a non-DMS client.

If you still experience the problem, it is with the non-DMS Outlook client.

If the problem returns, it is a problem with the DMS client.
