XFOR: Cannot Modify Microsoft Mail Connector Properties in Exchange System Manager (257169)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q257169 SYMPTOMS
When a user who has been delegated Full Administrator or Administrator rights to the organization tries to the edit the Microsoft Mail Connector property pages, the property pages are opened as read-only.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the Exadmin.dll calls the Conadmin.dll to display the Microsoft Mail Connector property pages. When this happens, a read-only flag is not specified. Therefore, Conadmin.dll makes the page read-only on its own.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, change the user's rights to Domain Administrator or Local Machine Administrator. Only users with Domain Administrator and Local Machine Administrator permissions are able to connect to the Service Control Manager to enable read/write access to the property pages.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
