Graphics Opened in Image Preview Instead of Associated Program (257149)

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click a graphics (or image) file, the image may be displayed in an Image Preview window instead of the program that is associated with the image file type.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, change the file type association to another program:
  1. Right-click the .jpg, .bmp, or .gif file, and then click Properties.
  2. Click Change.
  3. Click the appropriate program.
  4. Click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

In Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Image Preview handles most of the common image file types. To use another program, you must change the image file type association.
