AutoComplete for Intranet URL Does Not Work on the Address Bar (257106)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, when you type a local intranet Uniform Resource Locator (URL) on the address bar, the Autocomplete feature does not complete the address.

The Autocomplete feature does prompt you with possible address suggestions when you type an Internet URL (as opposed to a local address).

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, manually type the entire local intranet URL on the address bar.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
