SYMPTOMS

When you click the Edit button on the toolbar in Internet Explorer, the Web page may be opened in Microsoft FrontPage Express even though the HTML Editor setting in Internet properties is blank.

CAUSE

The HTML Editor setting is blank by default. When you click Edit in Internet Explorer, the system starts the first HTML editing tool listed in the registry to use as the HTML editor. You can change this behavior by selecting another HTML editing tool in Internet properties.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
