CTRL+ENTER May Display an Invalid Web Page Address (257042)

SYMPTOMS

When you press CTRL+O, type an address, and then press CTRL+ENTER to open a new window in Internet Explorer, an invalid Web address may be displayed in the Address box. For example, if you type microsoft in the Open box and then press CTRL+ENTER, the following address may be displayed in the Internet Explorer Address box:

http://microsoft/

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you type an incomplete address in the Open box after you press CTRL+0.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, type a valid Web address in the Open box after you press CTRL+O.

NOTE: A valid address includes the entire Web address. For example:

www.microsoft.com

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
